So, I was out of commission for a few nights due to an increasingly troublesome migraine. All better now, but further behind than before. Drat! Here's two I worked in quickly before family time. When I have to think fast, prompts are the best, and I've been having so much fun with Pain Chip Poetry by Lea Redmond, that I'm sticking with it a bit longer!
Prompts are below the poems in picture/text. If you use these prompts, please tag me or share! I'd love to see, as always, what you come up with. No much time to reflect today sadly.
First drafts as always.
I'll try to squeeze a few more in later.
NaPoWriMo Poem 7:
"So This is the End"
This is how it will end
with cold shoulders
and bitter goodbyes
Not with sunsets
Not with roses
Not with sweet kisses
that leave the mouth
moist
Not with handshakes
nor hugs
nor friends that understand
Not with peace
This is how it will end
our hearts hard and scarred
as brushed aluminum
our tear ducts dry
We fought like salmon
swimming upstream
headed to the promised land
but the currents were hard
and we were never
built to endure
Content: This is how it will all end Color Cards: Sunset, Brushed Aluminum, Salmon
NaPoWriMo Poem 8:
"I predict"
We lay in the field,
nibbling the chanterelle
tearing the fleshy meat
with our teeth.
"What will become of us?"
You lay your head in the grass.
I plucked another mushroom,
twirled its orange twisted head.
"We will lay here forever
until our bodies become feed
for the mushrooms, and
our souls dance planted
to the earth like sea anemone
as our auras soak into the fungi,
coloring their skin a brilliant gold"
Content Card: I Predict Color Cards: Aura, Sea Anemone, Chanterelle
