NPMC: 13&14& Where I have been

Hello! If you were following my blog, it may look like I abandoned the National Poetry Month Challenge half way through.

But that isn't the case -- I just haven't had time to blog.

You may remember that I was expecting. Well, I had my son on April 14th -- nearly dead smack in the middle of NPM.

I kind of felt when I posted in the wee hours of the 14th that those would be the last poems before his arrival, even though he wasn't due for another week, and well, mother's intuition I guess.

I did manage to jot down 2 other poems sometimes between his birth and now. I know it was the middle of the night, probably while I was up for a feeding, but don't remember much else about them, ha!

So, I am posting them here because they're part of my challenge and so you know I didn't abandon the challenge, not really. I still intend to finish it.

I'll give myself until May 14th. That seems fitting. The same amount of time I had left to finish originally before a speacial, tiny little someone monopolized my time and head space. :)

NPMC Poem 13

"Another One About Time"

The days roll into nights
And hours have less meaning
Time doesn't tick
It leaps
It frolics
Then stands Stark still staring
Into the headlights of the future
Before jolting away
Again at a pace I can neither track
Nor follow

NPMC Poem 14

"After You"

We were never complete without you
How to explain our happiness before
The before you
It seemed so perfect , our little unit
And I worried where you would fit
But I never guessed you already had a place
A hole we somehow lived around
Couldn't see until you
and you fit there perfectly
And we were once again whole
Whole for another time
Whole seemingly at last
We needn't have worried about shoving you in
You made us all bigger
Rather, showed us we were bigger
than we realized
bigger, better, and instantly full
