As much as I didn't care for that silly Kevin Costner movie about ghosts playing baseball in his homemade field, I've had to put some thought into the saying "If you build it, they will come."
Really, it is just about deciding to take action. If you are looking for attention or fans or love or respect or whatever it is, you are only going to get it by doing something. You can't sit around waiting and only waiting.
Likewise, I saw a quote recently that said, "The only difference between a Wish and a Goal is a Plan."
Simple truth. And yet, it felt so eye opening. I'd like to take that a step further and say, The only difference between a Goal and an Accomplishment is Action.
This is a fancy way of saying: I haven't been writing lately.
And I need to. Not just to keep in practice or because, like stated above, if I'm ever going to be published again I must submitt, and not even because if I want people to read my blog I have to actually write in it (though these are all valid reasons), but because I literally NEED to.
I can't sleep. I've had an awful time of it lately despite my insane for January schedule, and think most of it is because I haven't been writing. I wrote some poems in November and I placed 5th in the NYC Midnight's 2011 Flash Fiction Contest. But other than that. . .
I wrote a book review today.
To tell the truth I didn't have time to do that and I don't have time to do this, but the simple fact of life is that we must make time for the things we love and the things we need and it isn't as hard as it looks.
In light of my tight schedule I have created a new Twitter account.
It is @IntimateAcumens and you should check it out. It is going to become a collections of reasons, answers to invisible questions that begin or end with "Why."
I'm hoping it will hold me over until I can actually sit down and at least write the blog I've written in my head about getting lost, or the one that is growing like late bloom in the back of my mind about complexities.
And I hope others take the hint to. Action is necessary.
