My friend Mickey was telling me about these poems called Sevenlings.
Basically you write a seven line poem, three stanzas long.
The first stanza is three lines long and contains a list of three somewhere in those lines.
The second stanza is the same, only three different things.
The last stanza is one narrative line that should throw everything else into question, or at least make you think of it.
I was only going to write one while I try to catch up with my challenge, but I had fun with the first one and ended up writing 3, which is fine cause that is what I needed to get caught up today.
26. "It's Over"
Besides the note saying he'd gone
he left her only three things
the cat, the litter box, and the phone bill
That day she told three lies
"He left the cat because he knows I love it"
"He never promised me anything" and "I never loved him"
That evening she bought a gun and took lessons.
27. "Crashers"
The apartment pulsed
with moving bodies
loud music and booze
The neighbor, the ex-girlfriend
and a lonely stray cat
watched carefully from outside
Nobody realized he wasn't home
28. "Potential Movement"
My family is in that state
My life is in this state
I'm constantly in a state of in between
Everything is planned for staying
Everything promises to be a little difficult if I go
Everything in life denies expectations
But until the letter comes, I'll never know
