A Brief Note on New on Activities (and Charlie)

I think Charlie (my new yoga instructor) is either psychic or reading my blog.

Hi Charlie!

Yoga was slightly better yet again today. Though perhaps this is partly due to whatever that loud fan thing was not being on today. I could hear his instructions, brief as they are, and he even made a few comments on breathing.

Maybe it was because I ran (I'm using that term liberally), but today seemed to be just the right balance of strengthing and stretching.

Overall the session wasn't really that different. Downward Facing Dog is still the most popular move, but at least he told us to spread out our fingers today.

I look forward to both the exercise in joy and the flute playing (though being a past flute player myself I really want to tell him he shouldn't hold his head so angled like that).

As I said previously, something about Charlie makes him grow on you and some yoga is better than none. It's a nice solid mix I suppose. Also, I'm beginning to wonder if I've seen Charlie before somewhere. He seems like someone that wuold be on tv or that was on TV or a movie perhaps. I can't put my finger on it, but there is something familar about him. Maybe that is why he is growing on me.

In other active news, if I am able to keep up this training to run a 5K (an endeavor I just started yesterday), my week activity wise looks like this:

Monday: Body Pump
Tuesday: 5K training
Tango lessons
Wednesday: Charlie Yoga
Thursday: 5K training
Friday: Cycling
Saturday: 5k training
Dance Party (optional)
Sunday: 5k training
(And maybe we'll start doing yoga again here)

That's pretty impressive I think, given my 4 months of being nearly completely sedatary. (I wish spell check worked on this computer.) And I'm beginning to feel the difference, which is perhaps the most important thing. I can even do tree pose on my right leg pretty well-- left needs work. I'm not AS sore from body pump as I was the first week. I managed not to totally wuss out on my 5k training yesterday.

And- a lady complimented my outfit and my "flat" stomach in the gym today. :) When complete strangers compliment you for no reason, you've just got to smile.

I still need to get my snacking under better control, but I've adjusted that by suppling myself with healthier snacks.

All in all this new active me is turning out pretty nicely I think.
