Mini Blog Mind

Things that have passed my mind this week...

If the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result, what is teaching? I mean, sure we change our techniques in order to improve them from time to time, but in one class we could say or do the same thing 25 times and actually get 25 different results.

If my students' grades are better this semester than last semester, on a whole, is it a sign that I am becoming a more lenient grader or a better teacher?

How busy do you have to be to actually be kind of happy your husband won't be coming home on the weekend like expected, because now you won't have to stop working to get him from the airport and then spend time with him- despite the fact that you miss him terribly and are tired of coming home to cats alone.

Then again on that note, why is he such an easy distraction? When I'm not home he gets stuff done around the house. When he's not home I do the same. Sometimes this isn't true, but generally, if we know the other will be gone for some time we get productive. But if we're both home allllll weekend and there are plenty of chores, even ones perhaps that it is better to do with two people, we avoid them like we have amnesia.

It is a very conflicting feeling to both hate that all you do anymore is work but love what you are doing at the exact same time.

I was thinking how nice it was to have so many windows in this new apartment, but it only just occurred to me that only one of them has any kind of a view. Everywhere else we look out to the sides of buildings.
At least there is a breeze.

If you wake up at the same time every night for apparently no reason, is it safe to assume that something is happening that is waking you up? or is it just a new bizarre sleep pattern? I would speculate a ghost, but not while home alone.

By going out of town for Halloween, I would in theory, be saving all the money I normally drop on candy that trick-or-treaters never see and additional decorations for a party I don't have time to throw. Paying for the hotel room and tickets for events is supposed to cure my need to go and buy as much Halloween stuff as possible. Instead, I somehow managed to convince myself that since I wasn't spending money on the other stuff, it was ok to buy the things I normally wouldn't- like clothing and pillows that are only good for one month of the year...

Why is it that now that doing dishes and taking out the trash is less convenient I am more likely to do it?

I thought the Audio book would be a great idea. I spend a few hours in the car every week. I could listen while I drive, then go on my way. It wouldn't be taking any time away from work and I could still keep up with reading.
Of course, I did not account for the fact that I would get just as hooked to the stories, sitting in parking lots longer than I need to, just trying to finish the chapter... or getting my lunch to go, so I could eat it in my car and listen to the story...

Why aren't the holidays equally loved by the department stores?

  1. My sweet daughter,
First, since you are not expecting different reults, itis not insanity.

Secondly, your windows provide more than a view. Sunshine and fresh air are very valuable indeed. Speaking from someone who has no windows at work, it would make a big difference.
i think you both may avoid the choirs because when you are both home, it's nice to just enjoy some time spent together, coming from someone whose spouse travels a lot.
So hang in there. Allot time to do chores (we pick Saturday am) and then you wont feel as pressured.
    Love Mom

  2. But I do kind of at this point expect different results. I know they're not all going to take it the same way and or learn it the same way. We're something beyond insanity or the definition needs tweaking.

I appreciate my windows. That's why I said at least there's a breeze. :) Last time all I had was the view of a dumpster and no breeze.

We've tried scheduling chore time. Seriously it works for like 2-3 weeks.
