the wonder of books

So it occurred to me, and it had occurred to me perhaps before, but it really occurred to me today that books never will die.
Everything we do is such an individualized experience. If two people, for instance, see the same movie, they will have two separate individual experiences. However, if two people read the same book the differences in their experiences are even greater - for while movies give a common visual, books are left to the individual interpretation of words and the use of the imagination.
Reading a book is such a terribly strong individual experience of the mind that there is nothing that can ever compare.

On a side note I wonder why the Publishers are always looking for a fresh idea and why movie people are always looking for somehting they KNOW will sell. That's why all the original movies these days are based on novels....
