Pondering of the Cat

Lady you seem so nice and smart. You seem to love me. You scratch me good behind the ears and rub my back like no one else. I enjoy these moments so much I follow you for them. You play such entertaining games and you make me laugh with your silly interest in paper bound books.
But why, lady, do you spend almost as much effort on those feathery little beast trapped inside that cage? They are such silly things. Their flutter drives me crazy. If only I could reach out and catch them. They smell so tasty. They are for chasing, not for cooing at, not for kissing.
Why lady, when you have such a beautiful feline form to cuddle and love and feed, do you waste a moment of your sweet words on such as them?
