Maybe I don't know how to search properly or maybe my standards are set a little to high? I'm searching for good examples of literature online. The samples Jenny provided my E-publishing class are pretty good and or interesting, but finding things on my own feels difficult. I don't know why.
Although I did find something to note. I'm not particularly impressed by the site or even maybe the idea, but I don't know what to think of it. Story Line Online
Basically celebrities read children's books to you. Does anyone remember Reading Rainbow? It kind of reminds me of that because they just show the pictures in the book while the celeb reads and makes voices and such. The site itself looks very commercial and very red. I'm not a fan, though watching whats him name read that one book was touching. Clearly.
Basically I have mixed emotions about this because I'm glad the Celebs are doing their part to get kids interested in stories and reading, and it does provide access to more books then you might have on your bookshelf at home, but is it really reading? Does that really matter? As a young fan of reading rainbow maybe I'm being a hypocrit or maybe I'm just missing the point. If they're intersted enough to watch someone read to them online then they'll be interested enough to go read themselves.
Perhaps this eludes to some idea that literature has more educational value than tv or movies, even when it is put in video form... hmm over thinking.
The site isn't that attractive, it's a bit scrunched and did I mention commercial and red? Thoguh they do have many options for what size video you can download. So that's a plus. And it was better than the Grimm Fairy tale site I found that didn't even read all the words that were on the page to you...
So that's that.
